Winter decor

Like many people, once I took all of the Christmas decorations down the house felt empty. There is still a lot of winter left in central NY so I wanted to do something that would help us get through the dreary winter days ahead.  I re-purposed the snowballs I made for my tree along with the leftover snowflakes from my gift wrapping stash.  The addition of some garland and picks that never made it out of the storage totes this year finished it off.  Have a look!

In the first photo you can see the reflection in the window of the 3 larger snowflakes hanging from the light fixture.  I couldn't get a good picture of them.

  1. Ha, snowballs. I love it. When nature gives you snow, make a snowballs. Or a centerpiece.

  2. what great winter decor! I didn't decorate for winter, I didnt even think about it until after the hubby put all the bins in the attic, and then...well, pretty much those aren't coming back down till next year. But, I did decorate a little for Mardi Gras (we live in LA).

  10. I didn't post the "how to" but they are very easy. I used Styrofoam balls, white glue and artificial snow. I watered down the glue a little to make it more spreadable. Coat the balls with glue and then roll in a container (I used a plastic shoe storage box) of the artificial show. It's messy but fun!
